Clear Marketing Actions to Align with Your 2023 Goals

So, what's next? It's time to ask more from your digital marketing actions.

The sun is shining. THE SUN IS SHINING. 🌞

Evergreen HQ has been living in a foggy, gloomy haze for what feels like for-ev-er (with moods to match). So, when I see the sun peeking out, I will shout it out.

How are you? No, really. How are you?

Feeling fantastic about your new year goals progress?Making headway on your projects? Struggling to keep your head above water?

Where ever you fall in that spectrum, remember to keep going. Taking aligned action toward your goals is not always easy. But worth it.

I'm here cheering you on!

What comes next?

Last week, I was chatting with a friend. She finally felt like she had all her digital marketing ducks in a rowβ€”the small business dream.

  • Website is informative and calls people to take action

  • Social is consistent and engaging

  • SEO and local search are chugging along smoothly

These actions are the foundations of having your business online. Her work here has been and will continue to help her hit goals, reach audiences, and grow visibility.

So, what comes next? 🐣 She asked.

I'm so glad she asked.

And I know you know that sliding by with the foundations in place will not cut it for me. So, don't think you can just stop now! It's time for my favorite question.

What is your goal?

It's very easy to get caught up with trying out what is 'hot' right now. So easy that we forget what it has to do with our business or personal goals.

Here's your simple (but not necessarily easy) exercise: look at your 2023 business goals and consider how digital marketing can help you hit them.

Don't let digital marketing be a throwaway or afterthought. It can, with the aligned action, help you hit your goals. And, with the right strategy, it doesn't have to be time-consuming.

So, let's refine the question a little more.

How can your digital marketing actions align with your goals?

When we go back to our goals and realign our actions with what will get us there, we can focus on sustainable growth. (🌲 You know, like those old evergreen trees that take their time but, in the end, grow up to be sturdy trees that benefit the whole forest.)

Here are 6 business goals and aligned digital marketing actions you can tackle next to help reach them. Being intentional about your efforts will waste less time on what doesn't matter and more time on what does. Depending on your team and time, I suggest picking just one before moving on to the next.

🎯 Improve organic reach

If you have high competition or are relatively new and need to get your name out there, start here.

  • Blog - Write articles that align with your keywords and business focus. Plus, Google loves to see your website updated regularly.

🎯 Help my audience understand what we do

Are people telling you they just don't quite understand how you help them? Take this year to help them understand how your business fits into their lives.

  • Blogs - Focus on informative blog posts centered about the customers' pain points.

  • Lead Magnet - Go in-depth on the problems you solve with a eBook or masterclass.

  • Video - Show your customer what you do and share it on your established channels.

  • Case Studies - Tell stories about what you do using past (happy) customers.

🎯 Increase Customer Lifetime Value and repeat purchases

Finding new customers can be expensive. If you have the opportunity to make repeat purchases, these strategies can help your customers return again and again.

  • Drip Emails - Time out your emails based on your knowledge of when they may be ready to purchase again. Think about those timely emails about needing to refill your dog food or schedule your oil change.

  • Newsletter - Consistent emails can put your name in your customer's inbox again and again. Builds top-of-mind awareness for when they are ready for you.

🎯 Increase email addresses and qualified leads

Email addresses are gold to me. Valuable, timeless, and conducts heat!

  • Lead Magnet - Solve a problem for your customer with a downloadable easy-to-follow guide or checklist.

  • Case Studies - Use gated in-depth case studies as a way to further qualify leads.

🎯 Showcase my expertise in the field

Proving yourself an expert can go a long way when you are new, young, or have high competition. Use it as a way to stand apart in a crowded field.

  • Newsletter - Use a monthly/weekly newsletter for a place to share your expertise in the industry, and you have the pulse on what is happening now.

  • Case Studies - Use case studies or testimonials to let others share how much your helped them - in their words.

  • Blog or Video - Write articles or share videos about your field that highlight your point of view.

Yes, I'm serious about picking one for now. Remember that if everything is important, nothing is important. Pick what is essential to move your business forward, and focus there.

I'm finding ways to build structure into my days and weeks. I thrive when I wake up early to do yoga, write down what I want to get done for the day, and quit work by 5.

Structure leads to stability. Stability leads to confidence. Confidence leads you to the freedom you seek.

Let's do this!
